Tekken 8 Rulebook

The following rulebook extends and alters the general CEA guidelines.

Season Overview

  • Team size: Up to 7 players
  • Match roster size: 3 players
    • Fall 2024 addendum: 2 players are allowed
      • This will be played the same, except the team facing the 2-player-total team must choose 2 players to play, rather than the normal 3.

Tournament Format

  1. Season format: The league is structured in a Regular-Season and Post-Season and spans 9 weeks
    1. Regular-Season:
      • 5 weeks of ‘Swiss-Sys’ during which teams face opponents of equal win/loss ratio
      • Standings are based on Match points followed by game points as first tiebreak.
    2. Post-Season:
      • Depending on the number of registered teams, teams will be broken up into playoff brackets of 8 teams during which teams will play a double elimination schedule. The seeding of teams is based on the final regular season standings.
    1.
  1. Team Match format (3v3)
    1. Default match time: Saturdays, time to be determined
    2. There are 10 total matches played in a team match
    3. The first 9 matches are played in 1v1.Assuming Team A with players A1, A2, A3, and Team B with player B1, B2, B3 we get following matchups:
      Section 1 A1-B2 B1-A2
      Section 2 B1-A1 A2-B2
      Section 3 A1-B2 B1-A2
      Section 3 A2-B1 A1-B2
    4. The 10th match is a 1v1; FT3 / BO5
      1. During regular season this does not count towards the score and is used for fun. For playoffs, this counts towards score.
      2. Each team is allowed to veto one of the opposing 3 player roster. One player is picked from each team to play in a 1v1.
        1. Ex:
          1. Team B bans A1; Team A bans B2
          2. Team B picks B3 to play
          3. Team A picks A2 to play
    5. The winner of an individual match scores one game point for their team → In a team match there is a total of 9 game points to play for during regular season. Playoffs there are 16 unless tie breaker is played, then there are 17. This is because 16 matches will be played during playoffs.
    6. The team with the higher individual game score after 10 games receives 3 match points. In a 5-5 tie, both teams receive 1 match point.
  2. Team Match format (if a team has 2 player– 2v2; Fall 2024 addendum)
    1. Default match time: Saturdays, time to be determined
    2. There are 9 total matches played in a team match
    3. The first 8 matches are played in 1v1.  Assuming Team A with players A1, A2, A3, and Team B with player B1, B2, B3 we get following matchups:
      Section 1 A1-B3 B1-A2 A3-B2
      Section 2 B2-A1 A2-B3 B1-A3
      Section 3 A1-B1 B2-A2 A3-B1
    4. The 9th match is a 1v1; FT3 / BO5
      1. Each team is allowed to veto one of the opposing 3 player roster. One player is picked from each team to play in a 1v1.
        1. Ex:
          1. Team A picks A2 to play
          2. Team B picks B1 to play
